We are pleased to announce the 14th annual Harlem Genealogical Conference will take place Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 360 Malcolm X Boulevard (128th Street) with a focus on DNA and Genetic Genealogy. The Jean Sampson Scott Greater New York Chapter of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) will host the event at its Harlem church building, which is free and open to the public. The conference will focus on using traditional family history research in tandem with DNA testing to tell the stories of our families. Keynote speakers are Bernice A. Bennett and Shannon Christmas.

The two hosting organizations share a long partnership with a multi-generational commitment to genealogy throughout the world. This conference provides individuals of African descent self-affirmed experiences, reflections, and discoveries, while those not of African descent will gain a deeper understanding of the African-ancestored experience. The conference’s missions are to expose new participants to the joy of genealogy and to further research the historical travels of people of the African diaspora.
