Woodlawn in the Bronx, New York has a lot of notable people buried there, so I decided to not let this beautiful summer day go to waste and head to the cemetery. (My friends probably think I am crazy lol)
- Madam C.J. Walker entrepreneur, philanthropist, and the first female self-made millionaire in America
- Madam C.J. Walker
- Woodlawn Enterance
- Woodlawn Plaque
- Miles Davis an American jazz musician, trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. Widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century
- Lionel Hampton a jazz vibraphonist, pianist, percussionist, bandleader and actor
- Woodlawn
- Duke Ellington an American composer, pianist and bandleader of jazz orchestras. He led his orchestra from 1923 until his death,
- Jean-Baptiste Illinois Jacquet an American jazz tenor saxophonist, best remembered for his solo on “Flying Home”
- W.C. Handy an American blues composer and musician.[1] He was widely known as the “Father of the Blues”

If it’s any consolation I don’t think your crazy. There are a lot of famous people buried at Woodlawn. None more so than the great Duke Ellington. An interesting post.
Thank you lol. I am really glad I went, I will probably go back and the rest of the headstones I didn’t get a chance to see.
